We set out originally to play 80's and other obscure songs that "should have been hits", or should have been "bigger hits". As the other members came on board we started to pick-up some slightly better-known 80's songs, but we've tried to keep it one or two Duran Duran songs shy of a "typical" 80's tribute band. If we had to describe the overall sound in 7 words or less: "80's New Wave/Guitar-driven Power Pop".
The word "tribute" is exactly what we're trying to avoid...other bands play songs that have been filtered and ingrained into the collective consciousness thru radio airplay, or TV, or cd compilations (or everybody's cousin's wedding reception band!). We're trying to dig deeper and play songs that we thought were cool back then, that still survive today being played on loud guitars, and as uptempo as we can stand to play them!
We're just as likely to play "Blitzkrieg Bop" by the Ramones as we are "Starry Eyes" by the Records; or "A Town Called Malice" by The Jam into "A Million Miles Away" by the Plimsoles. We also feature some original material written by the band members...most of which were written in the 80's when we were all playing these songs the first time around, and we think they fit nicely with what we're trying to do.
